Born in Orvieto, studied teaching for the primary school level. In 1996 she left Italy to follow her desire for more life experiences.
Velia worked for Virgin Hotel Company in the United Kingdom in sales, marketing and public relations positions. She also trained in the Conference and Banquets department of Virgin Hotel while spending many hours in the kitchen of a little restaurant fulfilling her passion for cooking.
After Velia graduated from the University of Derby she decided to return to Italy with Virgin Company for the launch and opening of Palazzo Sasso one of the most beautiful and luxury hotel on the Amalfi Coast. She had the fortune to meet and cooperate with Mamma Agata Cooking School in Ravello.
She is working as a consultant to small firms and a large wine company, always searching for the best raw materials, and has been able to develop relationships with a diverse group of people with different backgrounds.
In the 2006 opened "Champagneria Orvieto" a tiny temple and modernist wine bar located just behind the wonderful Orvieto Cathedral. The establishment means "bubbles such as champagne or sparkling wine combined with a great aperitif" using just organic food giving a restorative powers of her playful presentation of a traditional Italian aperitif called "cicchetto". The most delicious Tapas prepared with the best local ingredients.
Cooking Show "Chef per un Giorno" gives her the possibility to be on national tv in a reality show to be the coach of many Italian celebrities. In every single episode she is helping a celebrity to perform her cooking skills for a special and funny dinner.
